Bangalore: Wipro has introduced a new software program Carpool for employees to reach office in time. The employees are using their mobile phones and a smart inhouse application to car-pool in real time, an initiative to help them save fuel cost, traffic conjection and be eco-responsible.
The application, called eShareRide, works for employees going from various points in the city to Wipro offices and back home. The pilot project now covers just 200 employees, but will be extended to 10,000 in about a month. Sushrutha Bankapura, tech manager, who conceptualized and executed the project with a team of six. eShareRide uses Yahoo maps so that champions and users can easily mark places and routes.eShareRide also uses information transport department to calculate how much time it takes for the champion to reach a landmark. In future, real-time traffic information will be incorporated to make the application more accurate.
