Mumbai, Maharashtra (15/Dec/2010): Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) on Tuesday hiked petrol prices by about Rs 2.96 a litre and other state-owned oil companies IOC and HPCL will follow suit on Wednesday.

In Mumbai, a Churchgate petrol pump said that petrol prices will rise from the current Rs 57.50 per litre to Rs 60.74 per litre, another at Mahim quoted the current price at Rs 57.34, which will rise to Rs 60.30 post midnight on Tuesday.

Bangalore: Wipro has introduced a new software program Carpool for employees to reach office in time. The employees are using their mobile phones and a smart inhouse application to car-pool in real time, an initiative to help them save fuel cost, traffic conjection and be eco-responsible.

The Supreme Court has asked car pool owners across the country to display on their vehicles that they carry school children, with school names and phone numbers in yellow and blue strip in the middle of the vehicle.
The apex court laid down that the drivers of pool cars must have a minimum experience of five years and they should have a helper along with first-aid box in the vehicle. Use of mobile phones and playing of music while driving were strictly prohibited along with the use of resoled tyres.
